Our sustainability commitment is to do business in a manner that promotes the wellbeing of our customers, employees, communities and the global environment for future generations.
Environmentally Conscious Packaging
Egg Cartons
CCF Brands is currently utilizing two types of egg cartons:
- Pulp (Paper) cartons are supplied from one of three pulp carton suppliers and manufactured with either 100% recycled material or 100% reclaimed paper.
- Polystyrene (Foam) cartons are supplied by one foam carton supplier. Our large egg cartons and specialty egg cartons are made of 40% recycled material.
Egg shipping cases
In 2007 CCF Brands committed to using corrugated cases certified through the Sustainable Forestry Initiative. Since then, over 30 million sq ft of corrugated has been shipped with the certification. For information about the Sustainable Forestry Initiative visit sfiprogram.org.
Folding cartons
In 2009 CCF Brands has made commitments to reducing waste in our food packaging and begin using folding cartons produced with SFI certified materials.
Life Cycle Studies
To truly understand the carbon footprint of our entire line of packaging, CCF Brands has recently hired a certified company to perform Life Cycle Studies on our highest volume items. Using the results, our company will be presented an opportunity to make better-educated decisions during product development and packaging design.
In addition to making an impact on our world through packaging and logistical adjustments, we've made sustainability a goal for each and every associate. At our home office we have made commitments to recycling all paper, plastic and aluminum products. In fact, from the start of 2007 to the end of 2008 we saved 51 trees from destruction, recycled over 100 bins of plastics and kept 25 bins of aluminum from the landfill.
By eliminating waste, optimizing transportation, developing efficient recycling programs and reducing our carbon footprint at the farm level, it is our environmental goal to do our part to ensure that our natural resources remain for future generations.
